Eleven + Courses Offered At DERWENT

Why Choose our Eleven + Courses: -

At DERWENT College our approach is unique. Alongside the 11+ course, students have their own individualised programme to ensure that the underlying skills needed for the exams are in place.

Our programme maps to the National Curriculum and also prepares children for their year 6 SATS and the transition to grammar school, meaning that your child will start Year 7 with confidence.

Our comprehensive 11 Plus and Entrance Exam courses give children the opportunity to become confident in a range of verbal and non-verbal reasoning methods. In addition to this we ensure that they are developing the underlying skills needed to tackle the exam with confidence.

How Does Eleven+ Tution Work at Derwent College?

Our Eleven Plus course is for children currently in Year 5. Children should attend twice a week. One session will be at a scheduled time for the verbal reasoning course (including nonverbal reasoning if this is included in your local examinations). Your second session can be taken at any other time during normal centre opening hours.

The lessons are carefully constructed to fully meet the requirements for the exams. We cover Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths, Mental Arithmetic, Creative Writing, Grammar and Comprehension. The small class sizes mean the students progress is closely monitored and an open dialogue between teacher, parent and pupil gives each student the best chance for achieving their potential.

For Children Not In Year 5

If your child is in Year 4 or below, please call our centre to discuss their individual needs. One of our tutors will then create a tailor made course for your child that will successfully prepare them for the Eleven Plus course whilst also helping them achieve their full potential at primary school.

If, for any reason, a child cannot attend their normal timeslot, we do our best to accommodate them in another timeslot on that day appropriate to their Year Group. In the case of absence, the work that has been covered during the lesson will be made available for parents through emails so that children do not fall behind in their programme of work.

Please Note Individual classes can be arranged under personal request
